The Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club (MBYC) Youth Sail Program is sponsored by the MBYC Yacht Club located on Bellevue, Washington’s beautiful Meydenbauer Bay.  Started in 1996, the MBYC Youth Sailing Program continues to thrive providing as many as 290 youth sailors per season the opportunity to learn boating safety as they experience the independent challenge and joy of sailing.

MBYC offers one week youth sailing programs from mid June until the end of August each year. Our program is open to young people from 8 to 18 years old with a variety of sailing experience from none to very experienced. Our sail program participants sign up to sail either Optimist Prams, Vanguard 15’s and Lasers. Our fleet includes 12 Optimist prams, 6 Vanguard 15’s, and 3 Lasers.

We employee 2 junior instructors per session, each session has approximately 29 program participants. Junior instructors must be at least 16 years old as of  the first week in June. Junior instructors must also possess a valid Washington State Boater Card in order to legally operate our motorized tenders. Our junior instructors will report directly to their assigned senior instructors. Daily duties for the junior instructors are also assigned by the sailing director.

Junior instructors will work a standard 40 hour week and can expect 2 to 3 weeks of work during a typical season.

Applicants for a Junior Instructor Position should send a completed application along with a resume’ to the MBYC Youth Sail Program Chairman at the email address listed below:
